Don't like an ad on Hulu? Now you can choose another [GigaOM]
Hulu has pioneered online video advertising, with an aim to make advertising more user-friendly and relevant. Their latest ad viewing system continues along these lines by giving viewers a choice of which ad they want to watch.
Before an ad plays, Hulu's new Ad Selector gives the user the to choose among a number of categories designed to specifically tailor the ads to the user. Hulu also announced its Ad Tailor product that collects feedback from viewers to tailor future ads.
Viewers also have the option to use Ad Swap, which pops up as an ad is playing and asks the viewer if he or she wants to swap ads. If the user chooses to swap ads, three suggestions are given for the viewer to choose from.
Hulu's new ad delivery system has benefits for viewers, who won't have to sit through ads that aren't relevant or interesting to them, and to advertisers, who won't be charged when a viewer opts out of an ad view for their ad.
