Facebook shedding U.S. users as Brazil, Mexico gain [CNET News]

With nearly 700 million registered users and growth of around 20 million users each month, the sky seemed the limit for Facebook in recent years in terms of signing up users. But that growth curve finally may be coming to an end based on the latest data.

Facebook news site Inside Facebook Gold has relased user estimates for May of this year that detail two straight months of decreased growth among users. According to Inside Facebook Gold, rather than adding the typical 20 million users in April and May of this year, Facebook only added 13.9 and 11.8 million users respectively -- still pretty impressive.

And that decreasing growth is further compounded by the news that U.S. Facebook users actually decreased by 6 million in May. Those losses were offset by growth in countries like Mexico and Brazil.
