Yesterday, I posted Insight's plans to add nine new high definition channels for our customers in Northern Kentucky. I unveiled all but two of the new HD channels in that post, and I want to announce the two additional channels today.
Comedy Central HD and Spike HD will join Fox Sports Ohio HD, MSNBC HD, E! Entertainment HD, Cartoon Network HD, Golf Channel HD, Hallmark HD, and a new Pay Per View HD channel on Insight's Northern Kentucky lineup. If you're an Insight customer in Northern Kentucky, soon you will be able to watch The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, take your place in the Colbert Nation or catch UFC Fight Night in high definition.
All this in addition to over 100 Cincinnati Reds games will be added for our Northern Kentucky customers.
As I mentioned yesterday, if you're an Insight customer in another district, stay tuned here for upcoming announcements about HD channel additions in your area.
First you should check and make sure the caebls are connected correctly. Some Directv DVRs have 2 satellite inputs AND an input for an OTA antenna. Make sure both satellite caebls are plugged into the correct inputs (and not into the OTA input). If they are connected correctly, go into the system setup and check to see if both satellite inputs are receiving a signal from this dish. This can be accomplished by checking the signal for each input. If everything checks out fine, then you have an issue with the DVR itself not recognizing the extra input.

Very disappointed that we are still waiting on this. Once Clearwire launches in Q 4, I'm outa here.

It really is pathetic how bad Insight has dropped the ball, isn't it?
Broadband 30.0 is still "coming soon" since it was announced last fall.
And we're still waiting for 8 new HD channels in N. KY that were announced almost 4 months ago.

Will these channels ever go live? You might not want to put stuff in your blog that apparently isn't even remotely close to happening.
I'm not even ticked off anymore. Its almost funny how bad you guys have dropped the ball.

They better add the channels soon or I'm going to be switching to DirecTV by the end of the month.

I agree with other comments related to the slow delivery of HD channels. Michael's post was in January and it is now almost April and I'm still waiting. I have been waiting for the Golf Channel and MSNBC for years. I attempted to get Direct TV but there would have been no way to get an HD cable to my living room tv, only my bedroom. So unless I move around my furniture, I'm stuck with Insight, however, since my cable bill is only second to my mortgage payment, my patience with Insight is eroding and I'm seriously considering the jump to Direct TV. Insight, you need to step up your game.

I just want these HD channels that were announced almost three months ago. Why even make an announcement when obviously you are struggling to make it work. Pretty pathetic.
I agree with Dave on the menu. It definately needs an upgrade.

I recently switched from DirecTV to Insight’s triple play services. Overall, not bad, however, the DirecTV experience thus far has been a better one. Here are the reasons why.
1) The set-top boxes that DirecTV deploy – so much better. I'm speaking of the DVR HD box they (DirecTV) have vs. Insight’s box. See post above.
2) The menu on DirecTV is much cleaner. HD channels are with the non – HD counterparts – so no need to scroll or enter 900 to begin the HD hunt. I can hide the non-HD channels.
3) In addition, the DVR has the same program in a folder. So if I recorded Blue’s Clues on a DVR from DirecTV I see the folder Blue’s Clues one recording more than one episode vs. seeing each recorded episode and the need to scroll through each one.
4) Recording programs too is much cleaner and simple (or more so) to do on the DirecTV box, really one touch recording. Fast Forwarding or rewinding is also better on the DirecTV box, which it will back up 30 seconds or so to compensate for our inability to stop right when the program starts or when you want it to start. 5) Search also is very easy and more efficient on the DirecTV box.
6) On demand is also cleaner as it is one user interface for all on demand titles. I still can’t see how I can find Top Gear (BBC) on demand on Insight’s Cable.
I can go on and on about the ease of use of DirecTV and the cumbersome menus and design layout of Insight’s menus, etc. Do you see needs for improvement regarding overall menu layout, DVR, and On Demand services? If anyone else notices this please include your comments.

I recently switched from DirecTV to Insight triple play offering. I'm happy overall, but the menu/user interface of Insight vs. DirecTV is horrible. I have the links to the two set-top boxes below. Pace being Insight's and H2x being DirecTV. The linl for DirecTV shows screen shots, which I recommend Insight to try and mimic for thier back-end and set-top configurations.
Here is the URL for the PACE HD DVR - http://www.pace.com/corporate/products/productDetails.asp?nav=products&productID=DCABLE-TDC787X%20Aspen that Insight provides. This is an inferior product to the DirecTV HD DVR H2x series shown here http://www.directv.com/learn/pdf/System_Manuals/DIRECTV/DTV_HD_DVR_ComboGuide.pdf

Any word on when these will be turned on? Its been almost two months now.

There is a word for this and it's "discrimination". I think Insight customers should start "voting with their wallets."

More progress, albeit very, very slow. I don't get it, Michael. U-verse, Dish and DirecTV have loads more HD offerings than Insight. What is taking so long for you all to add channels? And why are the markets different? I get 1 HBO in HD through Insight but can get nearly 20 with U-verse.
I'm looking at options to leave if things don't improve really soon.

This is the news I hoped for: Comedy Central and MSNBC. Now my only SD channel may be the local weather (and there's an HD option for that too!)

We were just talking about the skit Colbert did two nights ago about this very problem. Steward and Colbert took the trouble to upgrade to a HD broadcast and there are many carriers showing them in SD. His message was clear, flipping off those carriers in the HD margins where SD viewers couldn't see.
Bring Comedy Central to Southern Indiana too!

How come Insight doesn't have a unified to strategy to do the same thing in all markets?
