Survey says consumers want 3D at home [EngadgetHD]
A recent survey of consumers indicates a strong majority want 3-D content from their cable provider. Quixel Research conducted an online survey of 1,000 HDTV owners to determine their opinions about three dimensional high definition video and their preferred 3-D video format, and the research indicates a substantial number of viewers are very familiar with 3-D technology. Seventy-eight percent of the respondents have had a 3-D video experience, most likely at a movie theatre.
Of the entire sample, most consumers are interested in having the ability to watch 3-D television in their home. Of those surveyed that had recently watched a 3-D movie, that interest was even higher. And when asked whether they preferred to get that 3-D experience from a Blu-ray disc or their cable provider, three quarters of respondents indicated that they preferred their cable provider for 3-D video content. Blu-ray came in second among those surveyed.
Most consumers surveyed by Quixel believe that 3-D HDTV technology will become available within the next 12 months,
