Hulu, Vevo Take A Hit As Video Views Stall [NewTeeVee]
The latest online video statistics for the month of January from comScore indicate that total online video views actually declined from the same numbers from December 2009. 32.4 billion online videos were watched by U.S. viewers in January as compared to 33.2 billion the month prior. Popular long-form video site Hulu had a significant downturn in views, going from over 1 billion views in December to just over 903 million views in January - a decline of nearly 10 percent.
Last week Comedy Central announced that it was pulling The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and The Colbert Report from Hulu. Both shows were among the most popular on Hulu, which will likely affect future video view reports on the network television owned site.
Overall, comScore indicates that the average viewer watched 187 online videos in January which was virtually constant when compared to the December average.
