Panasonic 3D TVs Arriving This Wednesday [PC World]
Consumer electronics manufacturers Sony, Panasonic and Samsung all have high profile announcements this week about the rollout of their 3D televisions. Panasonic's 3D sets will hit U.S. store shelves this week, with the first units coming with a Blu-ray player and 3D glasses. Panasonic has a goal to sell 1 million 3D televisions worldwide this year.
During the Academy Awards on Sunday, Samsung previewed its new 3D LCD televisions in a commercial complete with a flying manta ray and fish. Samsung is announcing that it too is packaging a Blu-ray player and two pairs of 3D glasses with its new 3D sets, and Samsung has a partnership with Dreamworks Animation Studios that will allow it to include a 3D Blu-ray disc for Dreamworks' Monsters vs. Aliens movie with each of its 3D TV.
Finally, Sony has announced pricing and availability for its 3D TVs in Japan, so an announcement of U.S. sales can't be long off. If you're waiting to try out 3D home theater technology, it looks like you're going to get that opportunity pretty soon.
