While last Friday marked the official start to the holiday shopping season, today has the distinction of being the first day that many online retailers offer the big markdowns. Now, with high speed broadband at home, Americans spent $913 million online during last Thursday and Friday. Nonetheless, retailers still observe Cyber Monday, with the big deals hitting online sites today.
