If you've been following the Comcast and Time Warner announcement of TV Everywhere this week, then you're no doubt looking forward to the results of the trial run of their authentication system that will allow cable customers to watch TBS and TNT shows online for free via a broadband connection. Over at Comcast Voices, there's a YouTube video of Comcast CEO Brian Roberts and Time Warner CEO Jeff Bewkes discussing the TV Everywhere concept and an anticipated national rollout of TV Everywhere for Comcast customers in the fourth quarter of this year.

Having cable TV On Demand on my PC/Mac, and on my cell phone will be nice, but in all honesty I would love to see a system where you could actually login to Insight, Comcast, Time Warner, etc., and watch the individual channels that are available to you through your cable TV subscription, on your PC or phone, without the need for a Slingbox, or Orb.
Due to the insanely long time it takes to get home in the evening, I have the 5pm news streaming to my phone, and play the audio over my car's radio for my commute home. That is by far more useful than just having access to standard TV shows.
Do you see a day when something like this will be offered to cable customers, vs. the customer having to stream it on their own?
