Inside Insight Forum at Broadband Reports [Broadband Reports]
As I've mentioned here before, I'm a regular in the Inside Insight forum over at Broadband Reports. The forums are a good place for users to trade information and seek out help from fellow users on issues involving Insight's services. Yesterday morning, I noticed one user had posted an extensive analysis of a set of pop-up advertisements that he had received while surfing the web on an Insight broadband connection. This user had performed a lookup of the server that hosted the advertisements, and believed that the pop-ups were coming from an Insight server.
Let me be clear. Insight doesn't inject pop-up or pop-under advertisements into our subscribers' web browsers. In fact, we offer our broadband users free security software that is designed to block pop-up/pop-under advertisements from appearing. I checked with the folks who manage our broadband product to determine why these ads would be popping up and why they would appear to be coming from us. Although we could not duplicate the customer's experience in our lab, we have launched an investigation to confirm that his experience is not a result of some unknown, widely impacting source.
We're going to continue to work to get to the bottom of this issue. We want our users to have the most enjoyable broadband experience possible, and that doesn't include having to take the time to close numerous annoying pop-up advertisement windows.
