3.6 Million Homes Still 'Completely Unready' For DTV Transition: Nielsen [Multichannel News]
While several television stations across the nation made the switch to digital broadcasts last night, Nielsen reports that 200,000 more households have readied themselves for the digital transition in the past two weeks. By Nielsen's estimates 3.6 million American homes still are not prepared for the transition. Since the beginning of March, nearly 1 million households have prepared for digital television.
We're about two months away from the June 12th deadline for all remaining analog broadcasting television stations to convert to digital. If the remaining DTV holdouts continue to prepare at the current rate of 100,000 homes per week, we're looking at around 2.8 million households that might remain unprepared on June 12th unless there's a last minute rush of the DTV procrastinators to prepare for digital television.
