Piracy fail: Twitter user gets free movie tix for failed attempt to download a torrent [CNET News]
You never know who may be watching you Twitter. That was the experience of Twitter user Amanda Music this past weekend when she tweeted her frustration at not being able to find an illegally copied version of the recently released movie Adventureland using the peer-to-peer application BitTorrent.
That was the tweet that Amanda posted after failing to find a copy of the movie that would relieve her from having to go to an actual movie theater and purchase a ticket to the movie. Shortly after posting that tweet, Amanda received a tweet requesting that she avoid downloading an illegally copied version of the movie. Amanda responded:
Turns out that Amanda's Twitter follower turned out to be from Miramax Films and ended up offering Amanda a complimentary ticket to Adventureland. The dual moral to this story is to avoid using P2P to download copyighted content and remember that someone is always watching you on Twitter.
