CBS Beams ‘Star Trek’ Episodes to iPhones [NYT Bits Blog]

The CBS video portal TV.com may have lost all its Hulu-provided content, but it's venturing into the realm of mobile video with an application designed for the iPhone. Want your C.S.I. to go? With the new iPhone application, you can.
According to a review of the application
at Gizmodo, it streams show episodes from either a wi-fi connection or the mobile network, but the wi-fi offered a much quicker download and more enjoyable experience. The application's interface is well designed, based on the review.
But many popular shows are missing from the TV.com application's library. If you like the original Star Trek series, then this application is definitely for you. Both the Bits and Gizmodo review mention the plethora of Star Trek episodes. If your tastes are a bit more modern (in Star Trek terms does that mean post-23rd Century?), you may not find the show you're looking for.
This is still a work in progress. It's a neat idea to put streaming television shows on a portable device, but with slow downloads on the mobile network and a small video library, so far it's more like a proof of concept than a product that's ready for prime time.
