Shaw jumps to 100 Mbps with DOCSIS 3.0 [CED Magazine]
Canadian ISP Shaw Communications has announced that it will offer 100 Mbps DOCSIS 3.0 broadband Internet in one market. The 100 Mbps speed is the highest of any cable operator thus to announce a DOCSIS 3.0. Currently the fastest DOCSIS 3.0 speed offered in the U.S. is 60 Mbps, from Charter Communications in St. Louis, Missouri.
Shaw's announcement is merely a preview of the super-fast speeds available using DOCSIS 3.0. While DOCSIS 2.0 technology far outstrips the speeds available from the phone companies' DSL, DOCSIS 3.0 speeds - like Shaw's 100 Mbps connection - promise to be even faster than the fiber-to-the-home connections that Verizon is offering in a limited number of markets.
Meanwhile, here at Insight, we are watching these DOCSIS 3.0 experiments closes while we prepare our network for some tests of our own.

I am glad Louisville is staying ahead of the curve when it comes to new technologies. I love my Insight cable, there is no one faster!
