Friday links: a great site on high definition television for Columbus
I ran into a neat site yesterday that I thought I'd pass along to those of you in the Columbus, Ohio area. It's called HDColumbus.net, and it's basically a blog and a forum for high definition television in Central Ohio.
If you're a HD technophile like I am, sometimes you just can't get enough information about HD televisions, devices, or signals. A local users group is a great way to trade information about this ever-evolving technology.
There's a forum section that deals specifically with Insight's HD product. Since discovering the site, I look forward to following the Q and A in this forum.
There are sections on each local broadcast affiliate's adoption of HD broadcast signals and HD programming. And there are forum sections on HD hardware - televisions, set-top boxes, and gaming consoles. Great info to find out which devices are working for your neighbors or asking a question.
Finally, the site has a blog that highlights up-and-coming HD news. From one of their posts yesterday, I learned about a neat and cheap handheld HD camera that Kodak is rolling out in September. Looks like a must-have for those of you in the YouTube set.
Hope you enjoy surfing HDColumbus.net. I'm adding it to my bookmarks.

iPhone 3G Launch Day Headaches [Broadband Reports]
Uh oh. If you were one of the many thousands that camped out today for a new iPhone 3G, you might have had an extended wait due to the increased traffic on Apple's activation servers. If you bought one of these new devices, I hope you had better luck than the people in this article.

I'm really starting to hate all things iPhone.

Mr. Willner, thanks for recognizing HDColumbus in your blog! Columbus is full of HD enthusiasts and our community has been around for several years. We've all watched Columbus "grow up" in the era of HDTV; and for a smaller market, Columbus has really been on the bleeding edge.
Thanks again,
Scott B.
